Meanwhile some poor guy that really may have been entrapped life and career is now ruined.Īnd with the stupid supreme Court decision from the other week, it is not clear that if the entrapment turned up a small amount of weed in the guys house that police wouldn't be able to prosecute that instead. Like arrest lots of people, parade them around even though it's likely to get thrown out later. My fear is that entrapment could knowingly be used just to make a statement. I have no problem with such stings as long entrapment does not occur. A Walt Disney World bus driver was arrested after sheriff's deputies said he was caught in an underage Whisper app sting operation trying to meet a 15-year-old girl for sex. Whisper is a proprietary Android mobile app (formerly available on iOS) available without charge. If the girl suggested these things than it would (or should in my mind) be considered entrapment since the girl, operating as an extension of the police department, told/recommended a civilian to go there. Theory, the 15 year old could hold a conversation with the person (legal) but it would need to be that person to INITIATE the sending of pictures and/or recommending an IRL meet for the purpose of sex, after knowing the age of the minor, that would be illegal. I totally agree in concept but it seems ambiguous in reality.
